splash  The Louise Brooks Society was launched by Thomas Gladysz in the summer of 1995. It is a fan site, and a labor of love. This website and its BLOG (established in 2002) is written, designed and maintained by Thomas Gladysz, a silent film buff, free-lance journalist, and published author with a handful of books to his credit. As a matter of record, the earliest print reference to the Louise Brooks Society dates to May 23, 1996, when it was mentioned in USA Today. The earliest archived Wayback Machine capture of this site at its current domain, www.pandorasbox.com, dates to April 11, 1997, while the earliest homepage captured by the Wayback Machine which includes a © symbol dates to June 27, 1998. As now stated at the bottom of every Louise Brooks Society webpage, content original to this site is © 1995 – 2024 by Thomas Gladysz / Louise Brooks Society. All rights reserved.

The Louise Brooks Society celebrates the life and legacy of Louise Brooks (1906-1985), a dancer, actress, and author. As an educational fan site, it is a recognized association. The Encyclopedia of Associations, a standard reference work found in many libraries, contains an entry on the Louise Brooks Society in editions of the book published in 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2017. Additionally, as an authoritative source of information about Louise Brooks, it has been cited in newspapers published around the world, as well as by the online Encyclopedia Britannica, Wikipedia, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), among others. The Louise Brooks Society operates with the written consent of the Estate of Louise Brooks (Louise Brooks Heirs, LC), who “approve and support” its use of the name and likeness of Louise Brooks in connection with its activities.
